- Mecklenburg County has a total of 13 public school districts, and consists of 186 schools (175 of which are part of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools) serving 142,318 students.
- SJP Initiatives: Development of a S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Manageable, Achievable, Realistic/Relevant, and Time-based) action plan to establish a new, uniform response for school discipline. Action Plan includes crafting of uniform MOU about SROs between board of educators and law enforcement agencies; re-examination of process for focus acts; and implementation of mental health first-aid training for all SROs; among other strategies.
