Excerpt from website
Restorative justice is an effective, evidence-based practice, focused on understanding the roles of victim, offender and community in the restorative process. In this OJJDP-sponsored Webinar, presenters share restorative practices across the juvenile justice continuum and illustrate the importance of understanding the systemic changes that can occur during implementation.
This is the first Webinar in the "Using the Tools of Restorative Justice" series.
Learning Objectives:
~ Understand restorative justice as an effective, evidence-based alternative to court processing and punitive disciplinary approaches
~ Understand the roles of victim, offender, and community in the restorative process
~ Identify the application of restorative practices across the full spectrum of juvenile justice, from minor crimes to a range of serious and violent offenses to alternatives for zero tolerance policies in schools
~ Understand systemic change in implementation of restorative justice - moving from an emphasis on punishment and treatment, to accountability and making amends for harm caused by crime
