Stopping School Pushout: Overview and Key Findings
The Let Her Learn Survey revealed that more than 1 in 5 girls have been sexually assaulted, while 1 in 3 girls reported either sexual assault or other violence. As a result of educational barriers, girls are being pushed out of school. There was an increase in harassment triggered by hate following the 2016 presidential election, with the highest increase occurring in elementary school, secondary school, and colleges. Many girls are facing more than one form of discrimination on the basis of sex, race, national origin, disability, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation that are leading to discriminatory discipline, harassment and sexual violence, and failure to address trauma. Let Her Learn is a series that centers the examination of educational barriers girls face and how they can address them.
