Emerging Opportunities to Use Medicaid to Support Trauma Services in Schools Webinar
The National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice, in partnership with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and Futures Without Violence, will present \"Emerging Opportunities to Use Medicaid to Support Trauma Services in Schools.\" Identifying and meeting the trauma needs of youth in schools can help youth heal, support positive school climate, and prevent referral of youth into the juvenile justice system. These services can be especially important for children who have been exposed to violence in their homes, schools and communities. This webinar will highlight flexibilities available to states to provide and fund trauma services in schools through Medicaid. Participants will learn how Medicaid can support trauma screening and evidence-based trauma interventions in general and how schools in some states will have the ability to use Medicaid funding to provide these services to students in need. This webinar will be presented as part of the Defending Childhood State Policy Initiative.
